INDIAN FASHION FOR MEN
There are three main type of Kurtas for Indian men. The ones you wear at parties, the Sherwani, which the groom wears at his wedding, and the casual Kurta Pajama and the Kurta and Tights. Some type of religions wear a turban along with their clothing. In the Punjabi language they are called a "paag" or even in Hindi a "pagardi." The cloth that they are made out of is cotton or silk. Sherwanis' have embroidery on them which makes them stand apart. The casual kurta wear is almost always made out of cotton, and if the person wants, maybe silk, but not always. The main part of the wear is the actual Kurta.
Casual Wear
The casual wear for Indian men is a cotton Kurta with a pajama or a pair if tights. This is the casual wear because in India it is very hot, and silk Kurtas are expensive and cotton is cooler in usually inexpensive. White and other light colored Kurtas are always in fashion, dark colors represent the tradition of being at a party or at a special occasion. For example, the purple Kurta shown above is actually showing that it is made for a special tradition or occasion. The white and the grey Kurta however are just casual wear that you can make do with just about anywhere not too business-like.
Wedding Wear
The Sherwani is the most popular wedding wear for Indian men. Other wedding wears include the Suits, the American Wear. The Sherwani is told apart by its embroidery done on it, the amount of detail, and the amount of silk and satin on the special cloth. Also, a Sherwani most of the time is Red, so that will also tell you the difference. The things and subjects that tell you a Sherwani is a Sherwani is also the scarf around the person's neck, it will usually be red, as mentioned earlier.
Traditional Indian Clothes For Men
Traditional Indian clothing for men is sometimes expensive and as shown above also usually made out of silk, cotton, or velvet. They are not embroidered, this is because even if they are a little, then the clothing supports the idea of them being "fancy." You can visualize that by depending on the picture above, although it is not embroidered much, the velvet supports the idea of the outfit being extremely elegant. That is the point of Indian clothing.
